OP ART Spheres

4th - 5th Grade is learning about Op Art and Optical illusion in art.

Students watched several short videos about the OP Art Movement. Students looked at  OP artists and their works such as the early works of  Surreal OP artist Mc. Escher, Victor Varsarely's OP Art Spheres, and painter and the line works of Op Artist Bridget Riley.

We discussed what elements of art are used to create these great Op Art works through the use of  illusion of perspective, 3D Forms, and Movement or  Rhythm in art.  Students also reviewed complementary colors and how to create contrast in their work.

Once students felt confident in how Op Art is created. They went to work on their own Op Art designs.

4th grade did an amazing job on these optical illusion spheres. Students were really proud of their work and in awe over their optical illusion of form.  I am so proud of them too.

                                      Check these out!

Pretty Rad! Way to go 4th grade artist!
