5th Grade, Birds On A Wire
This lesson was shared with me during new teacher orientation, and I thought the kids could do this lesson to kick off the first day of fall.
We watched Bill Nye - explain the season and they stamp painted a beautiful fall sky.

The next day we watched video how birds know where to go to migrate. I showed them John James work of documenting birds.

Students practiced drawing bird silhouettes.
On the third day, they finally used oil pastel to draw bird silhouettes on their warm stamped sky.
The kids loved talking about the local grocery store near the school that is full of black birds that hang out all over the telephone wires.
I'm really happy how they turned out.
They were so fun to put together.
