Kinder's Wild Things

Kindergarten is fine tuning their motor skills and learning about shapes and collage.

Classes read Where The Wild Things Are. Students talked about the similarities and differences of the Wild Things in the story.

We discussed how to make their Wild Thing special. What could their wild things have to make them stand out? (For example: Will your wild thing have 1 eye, 2, or 3? Will it have a tail? Does it have funny horns? Or antennas?) Students talked about what shapes could create these features. (Are the eyes Ovals or Circles? Are the legs and arms rectangles? Do the claws have a zig-zag line?)

On Day 1, students started by making the body of their wild thing by tearing out a fun shape. Then they added the eyes, mouth, arms, and legs. On Day 2,  they collaged  details like the nose,  ears, horns, tongue, tail, paws, and feet.

They did a super job! Look at these creative and adorable Wild Things!
