5th Grade Relief Prints

5th Grade Reduction Relief Portrait Prints

My 5th grade girls are knocking their prints out!! I am so happy with their results.

We started with an intro to printmaking that allowed them to see all the different printmaking techniques, printmaking tools, and an introduction to all the vocabulary for printmaking: Print, Brayer, Baren,  Matrix, Ghost print, Relief Print, Registration....

We looked at German Expressionism Relief Prints from artists such as

Emil Nolde

Edvard Munch

Then they went to work creating their own unique reduction relief print. Students loved the process and had a blast creating these fun portrait prints!

Pirate Ships

Students made these collage Pirate Ships.
They did a draw along for the ship. Then students added details with sharpie.
They collaged all the parts together. Some students choose to create a 3D effect for the sail as a pop out by gluing just the corners down. How neat!

Students were so proud of their work!

Arrrn't these fabulous!
