Animal Relief Prints

Students are learning about relief printmaking and reduction printmaking techniques.

4th Grade knocked out these beautiful Relief Animal Prints.

Students drew an animal in a habitat. Many students looked at photos of animals and drew on a
9 x 12 paper. They looked at Line, Shape, Size, and Placement as they drew.

Next, they turned their composition into a relief print.
Students taped their composition onto a 9x 12 scratch foam and etched their print. They traced all their lines pressing down medium - hard to the foam.
They knew that the drawing would not be the final project.

They were encourage to create 3 prints and experiment with reduction techniques and
use contrasting colors or complementary colors.
