Jim Dine Hearts Faux Stain Glass Sun Catchers

3rd Grades Valentine Display is up and just beautiful.

Students learned about Jim Dines. They watched several short videos of his work and looked at his Heart Series.  As a class, we discussed what elements of Art made Jim Dines Hearts so special.

Being inspired by Jim Dine's hearts, we decided to make some amazing sun catchers to fill our hallways windows.  Students watched a short video how stain glass was made, and then  they got busy creating their own unique Heart Sun Catchers.

Students drew their hearts using black glue on old transparencies. They tried to keep their hearts big and divide it into sections using various lines.

Mixing acrylic and glue, students painted their work. They turned out Lovely!

* Display Tip: Use Painters Tape to hang onto windows. This way the acrylic and glue does not peel off when you take down the display.*
