I found this awesome website Handmade Charolotte to make super cute pinch pots. I decided I had to try it out with my students.
2nd grade loved making these pinch pots. We used cone 04 clay.
We talked a lot about the pinch pot technique, and how to properly make a pinch pot that would not break during bisque firing.
Students coated their pinch pots first with 3 coats of white glaze on the outside walls of their pot and the lid.
Using glaze and tiny brushes, they painted the hair and mouth. Then students stamped the eyes and cheeks using q-tips. Turned out great!
By the second round, we started putting our own twist to this project. I allowed students to use blue, pink, purple, black glaze to add accents to their pinch pot inside and out. We talked about what types of simple lines or patterns they could add to the walls of their pots.
They all turned out super cute!
What a great project!
