Winter Art Walk 2018

It is that time of year again to show off our Winter Art Work! Students really turned our school into a winter wonderland this year with their beautiful work. Here is a look at some of their amazing talent...

Kinder Winter Landscapes
Just Stunning! Way to go Kinders!
Can you believe this was Kinders first real paint project?

The lesson was inspired by Paint Brush Rocket, Winter Landscapes.

We put our own twist to it.
Students listened to OK Go, Primary Colors.
Then we played a "listening game" while we painted the sky.

Students Painted the sun. I then said "Yellow Up." They would hold their paint brush up...I'd put down the next color and they would eagerly mix it, giggling, and say "Orange Up"..paint their orange and  then I'd say "Orange Up"...You get the idea.

They used a foam brush to stamp the ground. We used  Long Skinny Cut Cardboard  Strips to Stamp for the Trees. Last they stamped snow  falling with a q-tip.

Turned out Stunning.
Kindergarten's work definitely was a Show Stopper!

2nd Grade Stain Glass Inspired Pine Trees

This Lesson was inspired by Cassie Stephen's 4th Grade Stain Glass Pine Trees

2nd drew their designs and then traced with Black Glue.
Later they used Chalk Pastel to add warm and cool colors.

Students were so proud of their work!

3rd Grade Ceramic Winter Polar Bears.

3rd Grade could not wait to take their ceramic work home.
These bears will surely be a treasure they will keep for years to come.
In fact, I even had a few 2nd grade parents ask me to "please do this lesson next year." Absolutely!

Traditionally, I teach 3rd grade how to draw the Grinch.  The kids really look forward to this project.
Students always make their Grinches so unique. I love the Grinches with pajamas. Aren't they adorable?

1st Grade, Big Winter Bears

1st Grade showed off their Drawing Skills drawing  BIG Winter  Bears.

1st used mix media to create these precious bears.

4th Grade Red Nose Reindeers

4th Grade really worked hard on these mix media Red Nose Reindeers. They drew a Reindeer in profile.
Then used oil pastel resist to paint the reindeer. Next they mixed water down acrylic with glitter t paint the background.
Last they stamped snow and made chalk pastel highlights around the nose and snow. They turned out lovely!

4th and 5th created these awesome fun Elf and Santa Portraits.

5th Value Candy Canes.

As Tradition, I teach 5th grade how to blend oil pastels to create 3D candy canes.
They love this project and the results are beautiful!

Another Winter Art Walk Success.
I wish you all a relaxing Winter Break and  a joyous season

spent with family and friends. Cheers to 2019! See you in the Art Room ....
