Kindergarten is learning about Color.
We read Mike Austin's children book Monster's Love Colors.
We talked about creating a monster and what it could possibly look like. (How many eyes would it have? Would it have horns, ears, or antennas? Would it have sharp teeth? Or a tiny nose? Etc.)
Then students got busy creating their own warm or cool monster with oil pastel.
They first drew their monster using white oil pastel on 9 x 12 black construction paper.
Then they decided if their monster was going to be a warm or a cool color. After coloring their monster, they colored the background warm if their monster was cold...or hot if their monster was cool.
.
Last, they outlined all their lines and details with black pastel.
They turned out so cute!
