Positive Negative Space Pumpkins

Positive & Negative Space Pumpkins

3rd -4th grade students loved making these symmetrical positive and negative space pumpkin designs. They were so proud of their pumpkins <3

We talked about symmetry that is on a face.

We watched an awesome short video about positive and negative space.

I did a brief demo in class on how to make a positive and negative space pumpkin.  Then  the kids went to work. Each student made 2 symmetrical positive and negative space pumpkin designs: 1 fairly simple and the 2nd more challenging breaking up the space a little more.

To display, I strung them double sided all together with yarn and hung them up like a pumpkin garland :)

They made a fabulous festive display for the front main hall of our campus.
Wonderful Results!
